Just Breathe

I chase after one thing: My Father's heart.

Week 3 Day 4

Genesis 37:1-38:30
Matthew 12:22-45
Psalm 16:1-11
Proverbs 3:27-32

We live and die, but Christ died and lived!

We live and die, but Christ died and lived!

Thank you God for Your amazing faithfulness. Thank you for answered prayers and for friends who would rather sit and talk about You and pray with me for 2 hours than anything else they could be doing on a Friday night.

Last night I stood in a circle with two of my best friends and prayed through a ridiculous amount of tears for every person in our lives that we love that isn’t following and chasing after Christ.

Matthew 18:20

“For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

Sins as Weeds and Rotting Trees

This is something the Lord was showing me as I was praying and writing in my journal today and I thought I’d share it.

“My heart is a grass valley with one large dead, rotten tree right in the middle of it. Around the tree are all these weeds. They are very thick around the base and become more sparse as you get further away from the tree.

I have been trying to pick all the weeds (changing the “easy” sins in my life), but as one weed is picked, it either grows back in time, or another one grows back in it’s place. I get rid of a few here and there but they are ultimately there because of this rotting tree. Nothing but weeds can live by this tree because it’s sucking the life out of everything.

So getting rid of the small weeds will not work, and what I have to do is get rid of the tree. This dead, rotting, disgusting, stench filled tree that is stealing my own life from me.

So how do I get rid of it God?

I (God) allowed you Charity to pull those weeds with your own might, and look what happened. They grew back because you could only reach the surface. I however, I can reach the root, where you on your own might cannot go. If I uproot this tree, all the weeds around it will be uprooted too because of how long and deep you have let this tree’s roots grow. If you submit to me, I will uproot the tree, but you cannot try to hold onto anything in this valley because you have let the stench of a rotting tree settle into everything. If I pull it up the valley is gone……

but in it’s place I will breathe new life. No longer a valley, but a garden full of life. Green grass, flowers, and plants all planted by my hands. And in the place where a dead tree once stood a new tree will stand. A tree of life. That is where I will dwell in your heart Charity, planted and rooted firmly so no man can move me. I will be the water, the LIVING water that will be feeding, nourishing, and growing the rest of the garden I have planted in you.

But only once you surrender to me will this garden grow. My glory is too great to live and dwell in anything letting itself rot.

So let me take the tree. Hand it over to me. Stop worrying about the small weeds busying yourself trying to pick them, and let me take the root.

You are my child, and nothing is too big for me.”

Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. -Revelation 22:14
