This just made me cry a little bit. I love this. I love them.
This is one of the sweetests things I’ve ever watched. I love that this guy proposes to her by giving her a bible with her first name and his last name engraved on it. I hope I get something this sweet someday.
Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Love, Warriors, and Challenges.
So we have finished the section of our woman’s bible study on being a godly wife, and I just feel like I have learned and grown so much. I feel like I have a lot more insight to what God expects of me as a young woman. I want to share this quote with you that a friend had shared with me and some of my thoughts on it.
“A woman needs a lover and a warrior not just a really nice guy. A violent man destroys with his words, but a silent man starves his wife. A man doesn’t need a woman to make him feel like a man, He should seek a woman who challenges him to be a man.”
-John Eldredge
“A woman needs a lover and a warrior not just a really nice guy.”
This is so true for every woman. No matter what we say, a woman wants to be pursued, much like how the Lord pursues after our heart. It’s not that we don’t want a nice guy, because I think we all pretty much do, but it’s when that nice guy doesn’t fight for us. Look how the Lord’s love chases after us, and fights for our attention, love, and affection. That is how he designed a woman. We hunger for that. I think where us as woman get it twisted is when we look first for a man to fulfill that longing instead of to our heavenly father. I love the verse in Psalms 139:7-10 that says, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed on Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me.” The Lord is constantly chasing after us and pursuing us. He doesn’t leave us, and He knows exactly how to fulfill that hunger deep inside of us that we constantly long for.
“A violent man destroys with his words, but a silent man starves his wife.”
Just as it says in Matthew 12:37 “for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Now in scripture this is talking about something a little different, but it’s the same basic principal; Your words are important whether they are harsh and many or just none at all. Again, the Lord designed men and woman differently, and we feel loved in different ways. Bottom line, when a man is just silent it hurts us, and it cuts deep. We feel loved when time is taken with words and we are shown love.
“A man doesn’t need a woman to make him feel like a man, He should seek a woman who challenges him to be a man.”
Woah. This just kills me, because this is some heavy responsibility on both ends. Men shouldn’t be looking for someone who makes them feel like a “man”. 2 Timothy 2:22 says, “So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness faith, love and peace along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” Instead of looking for that girl that makes you feel good, look for that woman of God that makes you want to seek His face. The one that challenges you to rise to be the man God is calling you to be.
Women have just as much as a responsibility in this. Just as it says in Genesis 2:18, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him,” we are a helpmate. There is no better way to help other than pointing someone towards Christ. It’s not only our job as a woman, but it’s what the Lord designed us to do. We are gifted at it, and we are called to use it. We should challenge a man to rise to the occasion. Not by being manipulative, haughty, or prideful, but as it says in 1 Peter 3:4, “Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” We should inspire a man because Christ is in us. We challenge because the spirit of a Holy living God is burning inside of us.
This is genius.
This picture just made me start to tear up a little bit because it’s so powerful. As beautiful as a bride may look on the outside on her wedding day, what makes her truly beautiful is Christ.
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
