I just wanted to bring this to your attention since you're so awesome for God. Have you heard about Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani in Iran? He's a Christian pastor who has had multiple chances to go against his faith and say he would become a Muslim, but didn't. Now he's facing the death penalty and could be executed at any time. I would give you a link to email the Iranian Ambassador but it won't let me use links here, so if you check my twitter @hellohopey you'll see it. Please spread this around!
I have heard about Pastor Yousef, and it breaks my heart. Please continue to pray diligently for him and his entire family. As hard as it is to hear about what is happening, it makes me grateful that I do live in a country where I can worship my Savior and share the gospel with others.
I checked out the link you posted on your twitter, and I sent an email as it recommended. I appreciate your concern, and I’m inspired by the amount that you care.
This is a bit random, but I’m feeling pretty passionate about the subject of prayer right now.
Philip Mantofa put prayer in this way, “If we are His bride, we must approach heaven romantically, entering into the inner courts. This is only for two people. You and God, there is no room for three. Get in a room, worship God, and don’t get out until He speaks to you.”
Occasional crying out to God cannot substitute daily trust and an intimate walk with Him. Anything God wants to do must be discovered in His presence. Therefor don’t pray looking forward to finishing, instead let God finish the prayer when He tells you it’s done. Prayer isn’t transit, it’s a destination. Prayer isn’t something you should “get better at” and it’s not something to be rehearsed. It’s building and intimate relationship with God.
Prayer isn’t just something you do because you have to in order to be a Christian. Prayer is a privilege, and it’s something you shouldn’t take for granted. It’s not a religious thing, it’s an intimacy thing. It’s hearing what your fathers voice sounds like, and feeling His touch. News flash; your knees draw people to the Lord. Instead of you trying to do it by your own might, why don’t you let your knees find the floor and start crying out to God? How have you used your knees today?
I think 1 Thessalonians 5:17 sums this post up pretty well.
I don't think you're a jesus freak (in the negative connotation), but I mean, sometimes someone will ask you a simple question (on tumblr, for example) like "oh what excercise do you do" and you somehow add god into the answer. I mean, that's good but sometimes people just want a simple answer. just a suggestion...i think you're a great person :)
I appreciate that feedback and in all honestly I don’t do anything specific. Thats why I answered the way I did. The only specific thing in mind that I have is to please the Lord. He invades every part of my life, so it’s hard not to talk about Him and give Him all the glory.
However, if you are only looking for specifics then I would say I like to ride my bike, I drink a ridiculous amount of water a day, I eat a lot of nuts and fruits, and I make sure I get a lot of sleep (that may sound cliche, but it works). That’s pretty much all I can think of.
I want to see lion king, but i love it so much that i feel like i will get too emotional and i don't want to feeeeel so much!!! haha i just love lions ya know?
I love them too!!! I actually watched The Lion King not that long ago at a friends house and after watching it I felt really inspired. If Simba can be the king of pride rock, then I can do great things in my future. haha
I really hope you go to see it though. It most likely will be completely awesome.
I’m going on a tangent so just hang with me. I’m feeling a bit fired up right now!!
The other day I was talking about something goofy I had done and I said “yeah I’m weird.” And this guy who has known me for 3 days looked at me and said with a straight face, “you’re a Jesus freak,” which had nothing to do with the story I had told.
To be honest this took me a little off guard because his comment was pretty bold for someone who has known me for three days. I was mostly shocked because I hadn’t said anything about being a Christian or anything about Jesus for that matter. In that moment I was so shocked that I just looked at him very seriously and said, “yeah I most definitely am,” and that was it.
After we finished up for that day and on my drive home I was really thinking about what he had said to me. The term “Jesus freak” in his eyes had a negative conotation, but in my eyes it’s an extreme compliment. I AM a Jesus freak, in fact I’m crazy in love with Jesus. I’m nuts. I’m extreme. I’m passionate. I’m excited that God shines so brightly through me, that people don’t even see me, they just see Him. DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW AWESOME THAT IS? I’m complete and total garbage, but this kid who has known me for about 5 seconds somehow knew that Christ lives and breathes in me.
This may sound cheesy, but that got me to thinking about being a “Jesus freak” verses being a “Jesus fake.” Look at John the Baptist. Total freak status. He was weird and different and eccentric, but totally sold out to his one true love….his heavenly Father. Then think about those people who call themselves a Christian, but you don’t really see the passion. You don’t see the fruit. And you don’t see the “freak” in them.
I guess what I’m getting at is if you are really following Christ you aren’t going to be like everyone else and people will notice. You probably won’t always fit in, and sometimes you may even feel uncomfortable. But bottom line; He is SO worth it. Being a Christian doesn’t mean you have to be so crazy that you alienate everyone else, but it does mean that you aren’t like everyone else. God made you special! He gives you true purpose. And in that you fit in with His plan and path.
I’m amazed with how cool God is. All the glory and all the credit goes to His name. You are so awesome God.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.
Looking thin girly! What do you do to workout? Or, what are your eating habits?
In all honestly I’ve been trying to glorify the Lord in ALL areas of my life. In EVERYTHING I do. That includes treating my body as a temple that the Lord resides in.
If I would have read this 3 years ago, I would have loved it and it would have made my day. (not that I don’t appreciate the compliment) But it’s no longer about trying to be thin or even trying to be healthy. For me it’s a daily struggle and conscious decision to make my Father proud of me rather than satisfy my flesh.
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
Can I see your lion tattoo? and can i ask where you got the pattern for it?
I found the lion somewhere random on the Internet years ago and when I turned 18 I decided to get it as a tattoo. The artist (Chad from Taylor Street Tattoo in Chicago) changed it a bit but not too much. The words underneath the lion say “Tribe of Judah”, which is obviously backwards in the photo.
Thank you God for Your amazing faithfulness. Thank you for answered prayers and for friends who would rather sit and talk about You and pray with me for 2 hours than anything else they could be doing on a Friday night.
Last night I stood in a circle with two of my best friends and prayed through a ridiculous amount of tears for every person in our lives that we love that isn’t following and chasing after Christ.
"For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
Two weeks ago one of the ladies in my mom’s prayer group was praying for me, and she shared some really cool stuff with me that the Lord showed her. It makes me mindful of where my heart is at and really excited for where the Lord has me right now, and where he is taking me.
“People see the glory of the Lord in you. But you are like a piece of metal that God is refining inside a fire. The only way a refiner knows that his work is done and is ready to come out, is when he can see his reflection in the metal. Right now you’re in a fire, and the Lord is perfecting things in you. When you come out, you will be a leader of many. You will leave footprints of gold dust when you pray for people. But be careful of pride and don’t let it enter into your heart. This verse is for you: Malachi 3:3-4”
“He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the LORD will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness, and the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the LORD, as in days gone by, as in former years.”
Refine: 1. to bring to a fine or pure state; free from impurities
2. to purify from what is course, vulgar, or debasing; make elegant and cultured.
3. to make more fine, subtle, or precise
I have been changing and growing so much and it’s exciting for me. God had shown me this in my heart already, but it’s really cool how He will use other people to keep you encouraged and continue to direct you on the right path. In no way do I think I’m going to be perfect, but I am being “perfected”. He is pouring His time, love, and craftsmanship into me. The last thing I want to do is get prideful and give myself any credit, because it’s all by and through my Father.
You are so beautiful Abba. Keep me here and change my heart to be like Yours until you see Your reflection.
Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Recently I posted Psalm 119. It’s a Psalm I’ve been looking at quite a bit, reflecting on it and making it my prayer. Verse 37 has really challenged me over the past few weeks and it’s a verse that I pray continually challenges me. It reads: ‘Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give…
I just read this, and all I can say is this cuts deep.
You are so beautiful. It's so great to see someone so on fire for God like you are, it's really inspiring. Congrats with the job, too, where is it? And one more time, you are GOURGEOUS, girl.
Well, you sure know how to make a girl feel good. So thank you very much. I’m extremely excited to be working for Apple as a specialist and I know the Lord will use me there in whatever way He see’s fit.
“Missing someone isn’t about how long it’s been since you’ve seen them last or the amount of time since you’ve talked. It’s about that very moment when you’re doing something and you wish that they were right there with you.”—(via youareuntitled)
Be still my heart, for God has a better desire for you to beat to. I know you want to wander and let your mind take control. But all the times you allow it to, you come to a place far from home. The loneliness entangles your thoughts, letting anxiety flourish throughout the deepest depths of your…
This is something the Lord was showing me as I was praying and writing in my journal today and I thought I’d share it.
“My heart is a grass valley with one large dead, rotten tree right in the middle of it. Around the tree are all these weeds. They are very thick around the base and become more sparse as you get further away from the tree.
I have been trying to pick all the weeds (changing the “easy” sins in my life), but as one weed is picked, it either grows back in time, or another one grows back in it’s place. I get rid of a few here and there but they are ultimately there because of this rotting tree. Nothing but weeds can live by this tree because it’s sucking the life out of everything.
So getting rid of the small weeds will not work, and what I have to do is get rid of the tree. This dead, rotting, disgusting, stench filled tree that is stealing my own life from me.
So how do I get rid of it God?
I (God) allowed you Charity to pull those weeds with your own might, and look what happened. They grew back because you could only reach the surface. I however, I can reach the root, where you on your own might cannot go. If I uproot this tree, all the weeds around it will be uprooted too because of how long and deep you have let this tree’s roots grow. If you submit to me, I will uproot the tree, but you cannot try to hold onto anything in this valley because you have let the stench of a rotting tree settle into everything. If I pull it up the valley is gone……
but in it’s place I will breathe new life. No longer a valley, but a garden full of life. Green grass, flowers, and plants all planted by my hands. And in the place where a dead tree once stood a new tree will stand. A tree of life. That is where I will dwell in your heart Charity, planted and rooted firmly so no man can move me. I will be the water, the LIVING water that will be feeding, nourishing, and growing the rest of the garden I have planted in you.
But only once you surrender to me will this garden grow. My glory is too great to live and dwell in anything letting itself rot.
So let me take the tree. Hand it over to me. Stop worrying about the small weeds busying yourself trying to pick them, and let me take the root.
You are my child, and nothing is too big for me.”
Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. -Revelation 22:14
